Connecting with your Cards

The Mystic Dreamer Tarot

One method of becoming a better tarot reader is to form a connection with your cards. By understanding what each card can relate to in your life, a broader awareness of the card is formed.

My goal at this particular time was to find a card that best represented my goal in my current situation. I found many cards that related but weren't just right.

For instance, the 3 of Pentacles is a card of receive recognition for your work. Which is a wonderful card to represent my writing, but I'm not there yet.

My goal at this point is to make writing a daily habit. I have accomplished quite a bit over the year, but not as much as I had hoped. The reason for this is I found myself not writing for weeks at a time. If we were to approach our daily jobs this way, well we would all be homeless. So my goal is to make writing my second job - to be more resilient and make more progress toward my goal of being a published novelist.

So, I have chosen the 8 of Wands. This is a card of rapid movement. The woman here is ready to plunge forward. The wands point in the direction she must go, forward. Her face is an expression of readiness. She's about to make that first step toward her goal.

What is your most current goal? What card best represents that goal?

The Fool's Journey - The High Priestess

Legacy of the Divine Tarot

Continuance of The Fool's Journey - The Magician.

Moments later, the Fool comes upon a stream.

From the stream, rises a beautiful woman, holding in one hand a scroll and in the other a pomegranate. Wrapped in a cloak, the woman remains dry in spite of the water from which she emerges. Light glitters off the horns upon her forehead and the crown upon her head.

The Fool lowers himself to the stream's bank and his dog gives a sharp bark.

"What brings you here boy?"

"I seek knowledge. What is the fruit within your hand?"

"This is the fruit of hidden knowledge."

"And the scroll?"

"This is the recordings of all past wisdom."

"May I have some of your fruit and read your scroll?"

"There is no need for such. You already have your own."

Confused, the Fool dug through his knowledge box and found nothing more than what the Magician had given him earlier. "No, I don't."

"These are not items you will find in a box. These items cannot be seen. Within you, you shall find what you seek. You must learn to listen to the voice within, reflect upon your thoughts, and seek knowledge through your dreams."

An owl swept down and landed on the woman's shoulder.

"Is that your pet?"

"No, he is my friend. He connects me to further knowledge."

"Where can I get one?"

"Again, boy, you already have one."

The Fool shook his head in confusion. "The doorway behind you, may I enter?"

"No. This is my doorway. You must seek out your own."

"Woman, I thank you for your answers, but I must admit I do not understand."

"You will soon. Go now. Continue on your journey. Pay close attention to the whispering voice you shall hear and to your dreams. You will find the answers and the knowledge you seek within yourself. When the time is right, you will understand."

The Fool gathered his possessions and bid farewell to the woman in the stream. Lost in thought over all the woman had said, he followed the trail with his dog at his heel.
