Inspiring Butterflies by Marge Richards and Ginny Zaboronek

Inspiring Butterflies – A 27 Day Course of Self Discovery - includes: 27 “Inspiring Butterflies” cards, a 128 page spiral-bound workbook, and a 48 page companion guide. My full review of this deck is available at the Examiner.

Each card has an image and title on the front and a message on its back side.

There are a few methods listed in the companion book. One is Today's Message. Before starting your day, ask your Higher Self what message it has for you today. Choose a card.

Today's Message comes in the form of Creativity.

"Expressing yourself through creativity brings a heightened sense of acceptance."

The companion book suggests: Being creative can be the needed ingredient to spice up your life... Follow this butterfly to find your own expression... Listen deeply to your intuition and do not edit what comes to you...

Great card for a fiction writer!

The companion book also includes an affirmation for each card.

"MY THOUGHTS ARE ENRICHED BY THE CREATIVE SPIRIT WITHIN ME; I AM FILLED WITH RENEWED ENTHUSIASM."

Isn't this a wonderful way to start my day?!

Tarot Combinations - 8 of Pentacles and 6 Lovers

Tarot Combinations are useful in both gaining a stronger relationship with the tarot and learning the meanings.

We are using the Deck of Heroes Tarot this week. My review of this deck is available here.

8 of Pentacles / 6 Lovers
Deck of Heroes
These cards are so beautiful, sometimes I want to just look at them rather than do a reading with them. But, we are here to discuss the combination of these two cards, right?

8 of Pentacles - The man in the card is intent on doing a job, and from the looks of it, a repetitious job. I've never really thought much of the produced product in this card, but here you see it is the same item created multiple times.

From the companion book: "The consummate craftsman in difference to the artist... the concentration to repeat a process with unmatched precision."

6 Lovers - The man carries his woman up the stairs sprinkled with rose petals toward... This card usually perceived as the relationship card is really deeper than such. Yes, it normally depicts a romantic scene of sorts, especially in this version. But, it is also about choices and commitment.

From the companion book: "a commitment to the choice."

I see a marriage of sorts within the combination of these two cards. On a romantic relationship tone, most married couples will agree the union is a lot of repetition. On a career note, most people end up feeling married to their job.

What do you see in this tarot combination?

The Mary-El Tarot by Marie White

Instead of posting a review of The Mary-El Tarot, which is available at the Examiner, I decided to feature a couple of the cards.

Built on the pillars of the Marseille, Rider Waite and Thoth, this deck is not for beginner readers.

Marie White created the deck and wrote the companion book.

Much more detail on each card is available in the companion book. This is only a taste of how deep and rich the cards are both in image and in meaning.

The Fool's Journey - Justice

Justice
Legacy of the Divine Tarot
The town celebrated the Fool's return with dance, food, and drinks. The Fool shared his stories with them into the dark of night. As morning grew close, his lover begged her leave and his father escorted him from the party.

"It's time for you to join the women. They await your arrival."

The Fool puzzled over his father's words, but as they stepped into the Hall of Justice his words left him.

Two woman, beyond beautiful, stood upon the altar. They stood as if statues. Gripping the Fool's shoulder, his father left him alone.

The Fool approached the women slowly, curiosity and fear engulfing him. He didn't wish to depart so soon.

"There are choices for you to make." The woman in purple shifted. Her sword gleamed in the candle light.

The Fool stepped closer. "What type of choices?"

The woman in white turned toward him, but he could not see her eyes. Gold helmets covered the women's view of him. "Your journey is not over. There is more to see."

"Why do you not look upon me with vision? Have I failed you? Do you disdain my image?"

"We do not judge you my son. Your choices are yours to determine. We only offer advice." The woman extended the scrolls in his direction, but then brought them back to her side. "Within these are two futures claimed by your soul. It is your destiny to follow one or both."

The other woman took a small step forward. "Sometimes the paths intertwine, giving the soul an abundant journey."

"May I see them?"

"No son. You must make the choices on your own. We know it may be difficult to understand, but both paths are within you." The woman in white turned her head away from him and grew silent once more.

"We have watched your journey. You have done well. It is now time for you to continue." She then turned her head away.

Taking the actions as dismissals, the Fool left the Hall of Justice.

Wandering through the streets, he made his way to the forest's edge and entered. He followed the trail to a wide opening. Dropping to his knees, the Fool prayed for guidance.

Tarot Combinations - 3 Empress and 2 High Priestess

Tarot Combinations are useful in both gaining a stronger relationship with the tarot and learning the meanings.

Instead of posting a review of the Deck of Heroes Tarot, which is available here, I decided to feature the deck in a Tarot Combination post. Note this deck is high on the romance theme.

3 Empress / 2 High Priestess
Deck of Heroes Tarot

Using Image Combinations - The Empress, served by her servants, enjoys a relaxing moment. The blue waterfall represents her calm state. The green represents a moment of growth and the red flowers show the abundance of her emotions. The High Priestess, embraced by her lover, stands barefooted, absorbing the earth's energies. The view behind her represents her power to absorb these energies. There are battling forces within this combination, yet they also complement one another. Both are of receiving rather than giving. I'm thinking a moment of mediation is represented within this combo, from life and spirit.

  • Take a moment to relax and absorb the energies of life and spirit.

Using Meanings: Empress: motherhood, growth, nurturing; High Priestess: unblocked intuition, listening to inner voice.

  • Growth through connecting with one's higher self.

Using numerical values: 3 - creation and growth, 2 - Balance and reflections

  • Growth and creation brought about through balance and reflections.

What do you see in this tarot combination?
