Review: The Chronicles of Destiny Fortune Cards

The Chronicles of Destiny Fortune Cards
Authors: Josephine and Emily Ellershaw
Artwork: Claudia McKinney
Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 2014

Description: 60 cards and a 175 page companion book in a sturdy cardboard box, which resembles a book.

Card Size: 2 5/8" by 4 3/4"

A love for storytelling shines through in this set and snags story readers, writers and card readers. The fortune cards not only follow along in a story plot format, but they also have a little dash of tarot and a pinch of Lenormand within its scheme.

After a lovely introduction, the authors share a quick bit on how to use the set of cards. And then, the story begins with a short prologue and on through the first 54 cards. I suggest reading through the story first and going back through a second time for the Moral and the Definition.

Then you have the supporting cast: the Ladies of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Also included are another Hero and Heroine for added flexibility in your readings. The guidebook shares some tips on reading, six suggested spreads, and a keyword cheat sheet.

The images in this deck are spectacular. Even the backing is amazing. I've picked out a few to give you a little taste. The authors have a beautiful site to give you a real experience with this deck - www.chroniclesofdestiny.com.

10. The Adventure "All types of new beginnings, the start of something new, taking a new path in life."

17. Shore of Trials "Challenging times. Trials and tribulations."

5. Dreams "future plans, goals and dreams, but a need to take action to make them reality."

50. Alchemy "Something ordinary has the potential to turn into something extraordinary."

This would make a great writer's tool, a wonderful deck for reading one's fortune, and a nice addition to any card enthusiast's collection.

Ellen, I understand. Maybe the price will drop soon. I'll let you know if I see a deck on sale anywhere. :)
