Review: The Witch's Oracle
Author: Marla Brooks
Illustrator: Aunia Kahn
Schiffer Publishing, Ltd, 2015
Description: 45 cards and a 112 page guidebook in a sturdy cardboard box, with magnetic closure.
Card size: about 3 by 4.5 inches.
The Witch's Oracle reminds me of a Lenormand deck from a Pagan perspective. The cards feature items familiar to Witches, but will be recognized by the masses, such as the black cat serving as a Familiar and the most famous magician's tool the Magick Wand. The author suggests the deck can be used as a standalone oracle or used in conjunction with another deck for added guidance. I tried it both way and was impressed by the results.
As you'll see below, the images are quite amazing. The brocade backgrounds of the cards give the images an almost three dimensional feel. When I first pulled the deck from the box, I had to separate the cards one by one. After a few shuffles, the cards finally released their attachment to one another. Now they glide past one another in an almost magical dance. The energies of this deck are amazing.
The guidebook contains an introduction, how to clear/charge your cards, suggested spreads, and information on working with your cards. The bulk of the little book is dedicated to the cards. Each section contains a colored image of the card, information on the item, card meaning and an incantation.
The Dreamcatcher asks you to pay close attention to your dreams. It suggests keeping a dream journal. The information in your dreams will prove important and provide answers.
Owl - Incantation - "Spirit Guides and teachers, please let me see the hidden world that now surrounds me. I need to see clearly both inside and out. I need your assistance, of that there's no doubt."
The Owl is a sign to trust your intuition. Pay attention to the world around you. You will find the answers you need to any issues you may have.
The Hourglass urges you to complete what you've been putting off. Time is of the essence.
The Witch's Oracle makes a great standalone deck and a nice addition to other divination methods. I recommend this deck to anyone seeking guidance.
You don't have to be a Witch to enjoy the images of this deck.
