Searching For Direction

I pondered over what to write about in the world of tarot this week and decided to ask the cards. They presented me with The Unknown Card of the Crystal Visions Tarot. Now how helpful is that?

The purpose of this addition card in the deck is to identify aspects not yet revealed in the scheme of things. The card offers a suggestion of patience to discover what is not yet ready to be known. The figure in the card offers forth a crystal ball, urging you to look within, to meditate upon the matter at hand.

I have been thinking on the best direction to take the blog over the last few weeks, hence the re-publications of deck reviews from my Tarot Examiner. I've also found myself short on time – both job related and self-inflicted.

Scattered is the word for it. I've missed writing sessions, slacked on my blog duties, and even found myself sitting in front of the television doing nothing at all – which isn't like me at all. I’m always doing something – minus a few hours a week dedicated to shows I watch faithfully.

Which shows you may be asking? The Following, Grimm, Client List and The Walking Dead are my main ones at the moment. I've also been catching Two Broke Girls, Anger Management, and Two and a Half Men. You have to add a little comedy into the mix right?

O, right, we were talking about the blog. See, told you I was scattered.

Anyways, discovering the best direction for the blog – it seems everyone is writing tarot blogs, and I want mine to give you something you may not be getting anywhere else. Feel free to offer ideas of some topics you’d like me to cover. Just go to the contact page, or leave comments.

The Fool’s Journey posts drew many views and comments, but my thoughts have led toward finishing them up offline, editing the earlier posts, and offering the entire story as an eBook. When I'll actually have time to do this is another story entirely.

Individual Card Meanings are always popular. How to learn the tarot, new spreads, and Deck Reviews seem to be nice topics many readers enjoy. Healing with Crystals, Contacting your Spirit Guides, Numerology? Speaking of such, last week Cutting Energy Cords appeared on my Tarot Examiner, if you’re interested.

The Mary-El Tarot deck explores the alchemy of the soul.

Built on the pillars of the Marseille, Rider Waite and Thoth, this deck is not for beginner readers.

Packaged in the large Schiffer box, the 78 card deck comes with a companion book. Neither the cards nor the book can be taken lightly. Well worth investigating and taking your knowledge to the next level.

On the large side, each card contains beautiful, intriguing, and deep artwork. The rich colors draw you in, and the amazing images cast a spell.

Marie White not only designed the cards, but also wrote the companion book. She explains the symbolism and mythology of each card. Each card section begins with a quote. Both traditional and divination meanings are given. The connection built by the creator writing the companion book is a wonderful addition to this deck.

I recommend this deck for experienced readers, collectors, or anyone interested in artwork. The images will take your breath away.

Deck of Heroes Tarot by Richard ShadowFox

Deck of Heroes

Complete with instruction book and Schiffer box, this 78-card deck features at least one male hero on each card. From knights to scoundrels, these images are sure to get your imagination rushing in many directions. This is a deck sure to please any collector or romance addict.

The artist did a wonderful job with the imagery of this deck. It’s more than a deck of men. The settings are very interesting. Some cards are on the dark side, but I find this enriches the images. The card backs are different but entrancing - almost pulling you into its puzzle of lavender.

The deck is based on the traditional tarot card meanings, but this is not a good choice for a new tarot reader.  While some of the cards are easily read, some may leave you confused about its representation of the usual card meaning.

For me, this is more of a deck for the sake of art rather than tarot reading. I would recommend this deck to collectors, art enthusiasts, and writers (especially romance writers.)

The Four Mode Spread

Another helpful spread offered in Mary K. Greer's Understanding the Tarot Court is The Four Mode Spread.

What are the four modes?

Who - Court Cards, What - Minor Arcana, Why - Major Arcana, and Where - Aces

To start, we are going to divide the deck into four groups: Court, Minors, Majors, and Aces. Shuffle the individual piles and select one card randomly from each.

First discover what you are experiencing, and then how to deal with the situation.

My Cards:

Who - characteristics of your current self - King of Wands - A King is in control of his life and his elemental focus. He has achieved mastery and puts it into play within his daily life. The element of Wands brings the desire of creativity and self-growth into his focus. He knows what he wants and proceeds as planned.

What - the situation - 6 of Cups - The situation presented by this card is one of sharing past experiences and lessons. The older figure offers the flower to the younger figure, sharing his delight for the experience of smelling nature.

Why - archetypal energies in play - 14 Temperance - The energies of the Temperance card is of balancing and moderation.

Where - elemental realm of consciousness - Ace of Pentacles - The elemental realm of the Pentacles is Earth - representing the physical things in life. Such would include finances, skills, career, the body, etc.

What am I experiencing?

I am in control of my current situation and step forth in my journeys of discover. I reach out to share my own experiences with others, because I need balance in my world. This all occurs on the physical realm of skills and career.

Interesting - As you all know, my 'official' Tarot Guidance website launched very recently, with hopes of sharing more with you through the tarot. This little exercise confirms I'm on the right path, wouldn't you think?

How should I deal with the situation?

• Looking at the cards in a different order from a different perspective - Mary K. Greer offers sentence to complete, filling in your chosen card as you do so.

1. In the realm shown by the Ace of Pentacles, where life and lessons find their way into the physical world through your skills and choices, I can use the attributes of Temperance to find a balance and learn moderation throughout my life, in order to deal with the 6 of Cups, which expresses my desire to share with others what I have discovered within my past and present, as experienced by the court card, the one who is a master of his creativity and his self-growth.

Looking at it all from a new perspective, I see this as more than my tarot journey, but also my fictional writing. The Temperance is no stranger to my readings. Here I may have discovered the how to find the balance needed - by sharing my knowledge and experiences with you through tarot information and fiction stories.
