Have you ever rushed home crying from an argument with your boyfriend to consult your cards on the situation? Tears wetting each card as you lay it out in a spread, only to find yourself looking at cards that make no sense to you at all. Desperate, you gather the cards and try again, and again.
When a person is upset and confused over a situation, it is not the best time to do a reading. The questioner's energies will transfer to the cards, resulting in either a false reading or a confusing reading. Your emotions can also cloud your mind, making it hard to understand what is trying to be revealed.
The best thing to do in this situation is to avoid attempting a reading at all. Do something to take your mind off the situation. Anything you enjoy will do, read, watch television, listen to music, whatever it takes to ground you and bring you back to yourself.
After you feel more relaxed and focused, then you may ask the cards for direction.

Which court card are you?
The most common choice for this card is a court card. There are many different aspects that can be used to determine which card to choose, and there is no right or wrong way of making your selection.
Two aspects that can be used are age and your zodiac sign.
Age
The page represents a young person, female or male.
The knight represents a boy in his twenties.
The king represents a man who has reached adulthood.
The queen represents a woman who has reached adulthood.
Zodiac
The suit of wands represents the fire signs – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
The suit of cups represents the water signs - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
The suit of swords represent the air signs - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
The suit of pentacles represent the earth signs - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Using these aspects, my Significator card is the Queen of Wands.

Tarot for Writers
The tarot can be used in many ways.
A writer can spice up his/her creativity with a deck of tarot cards.
You can produce a story from the images of some tarot cards, or you can create a spread to jumpstart you progress.
You may also feel the need to create your own spreads.
You may even dig into a character's life with a general spread, as I did here.
I use one tarot spread to flesh out my short stories when I feel stuck. It is a three card spread. Position 1 - beginning, Position 2 - middle, Position 3 - end. This spread has helped me complete a few stories.
With the tarot guiding your muse, you'll see amazing results.

The Empress and 3 of Cups
Tarot Combinations are a great aspect that can deepen a tarot reading. When two cards fall next to each other, greater meanings are sometimes given.
The Empress is a card of creativity, fertility, and sexuality. She speaks of efforts paying off. It may refer to a creative project, marriage, or childbirth.
The 3 of cups is a card of celebration. A gathering of sorts is indicated by this card.
In numerology, the three represents progress and expansion.
When these cards fall alongside one another, there is a strong reference toward pregnancy.
Position does matter in a reading, so there are always alternative meanings in the cards. The reading question can also influence the card meanings.

Forming a Tarot Question
The form of your tarot reading question is the most important thing you bring to your reading. It will determine the accuracy of the reading as a whole.
I think of it in terms of the 'wish' clause: 'Be careful what you wish for'. If you ask for a million dollars, you will receive the money but may not find happiness. If you wish for happiness, you will be happy but may find yourself poor.
I think of it in terms of the 'wish' clause: 'Be careful what you wish for'. If you ask for a million dollars, you will receive the money but may not find happiness. If you wish for happiness, you will be happy but may find yourself poor.
It is important to decide what you want to know and form a question that will give the answers you seek.
For example: You've been with your boyfriend for three years and you hope to marry him. You're concerned as to whether he will ever ask and how long it will be before he does. You are happy with him, but you want more.
Question: Will he ever ask me to marry him? If this question comes back with a no answer, then what will you do? What if the way to your marriage is through you popping the question, yet it hasn't occurred to you.
Question: Will we become a happy married old couple together? If the answer is no, you may assume that it will not last. Not all couples marry. You may find yourself in love till the day you die, but unmarried.
Question: How does he feel about me? The boyfriend may love you deeply, leaving you to assume that he will ask you to marry him, but this may still not occur.
Question: What can I expect in my relationship? This may give a more precise answer to you desired question. The reading may show happiness and family without bonds.
Question: How can I further my relationship into marital bonds? If this is your future it may give you directions toward your goals. If it is not in your future, it may tell you why.
As you see, a question is a powerful force within a tarot reading. Knowing what you want to know is pertinent to the outcome of your reading. Choose wisely.

Review: Titania's Fortune Cards
Titania's Fortune Cards |
Fortune-telling cards are among these.
The Titania's Fortune Cards are based on the Mlle. Lenormand's Fortune Telling Cards. The cards in this deck are very easy to read with simple images.
The deck consists of 36 cards, slightly larger than playing cards. The card stock is thin and will need to be cared for, but this is a great deck to have.
If you look for this deck on Amazon, you will be shocked at the price of this out of print deck. Take your time, and search for these. You can find them for a reasonable price. It may just take you a little time. I purchased mine from an EBay UK seller for around nineteen dollars.
So, if you have trouble reading the complex messages of the Tarot, give these fortune cards a try. You'll be amazed by their accuracy.

Automated tarot readings - do they work?
I'm sure you've noticed all the free tarot reading available on the web, generated automatically. Do they actually work?
In my opinion, I can't see how they could.
When conducting a tarot reading, one reaches out to the spiritual world for guidance and experiences a direct connection with the cards. The cards pull from the reader's intuition and supply a message that she/he can deliver.
Two readers would most likely not produce the same cards when doing a reading for you, because each reader would find a different message within the same cards. The spiritual guides provide the cards needed for that one reader to supply the message needed.
I have sought guidance through the automatic readings. Yes, I'm guilty of thinking it may be possible. The resulting reading seldom has anything to do with the question asked and rarely helps at all.
Although, it is difficult to do your own reading, I do find the results at least helpful.
Some skeptics may be saying, "So, it's all random anyway." This is not so, and I can prove it to you.
If you have a deck of tarot cards, sit down and do a short reading, say five cards. Make note of the cards and a brief summary of their meanings.
Now, put the cards back in the deck, reshuffle, and go through the process of doing another reading. Make sure to ask the same question. I guarantee you that at least one of your previous cards will reappear. Write down the cards and their meanings. I guarantee that the meanings will be similar in some way to the previous reading, therefore producing the same message.
I've tried this before and had three out of five cards reappear.
Still not convinced? Ask the cards another question, something entirely different from the first question or even for someone else. The same cards will not appear.
Give it a try. What were your results?
Share your opinions of the automated tarot readings. Have you come across any that ring true?

Are you psychic?
Psychics were those people who could tell you of future events with no use of tools. After some research, I've learned that this is not necessarily true and I do have some psychic abilities. These abilities need some tweaking.
Have you ever looked at the phone moments before it rings? Have you ever known who the caller was before you answered? Do you assume that these events are coincident?
We all have psychic abilities. While we are children the ability is there, but after years of being molded into society it is nurtured out of us. Some have been lucky enough to have held on to the abilities, while others have to relearn the skills.
As a result of this research, I'm beginning a series of articles on the Examiner of how to develop your psychic abilities. Feel free to follow along as I explore and relearn my psychic abilities.
Developing your psychic abilities - Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8
So, are you psychic?

Personal Year Number
The personal year number is calculated the same as the life path number, except you replace your birthdate with the current year. The personal year reflects lessons you must learn during the given year.
Here are my calculations : (12+10+2010=52) (5+2=7)
My Personal Year number is 7.
Seven relates to The Chariot (7) and The Tower (16).
Based on these two cards my purposes during the year of 2010 are:

Based on these two cards my purposes during the year of 2010 are:
- To stay focused and concentrate fully on each of my projects individually.
- To move forward at a steady pace, but not to force matters.
- To expect sudden changes throughout the year.
- To believe that the destruction of a structure only uncovers a sturdy foundation to rebuild upon.

Life Path Number
The Life Path number is determined by your day, month, and year of birth. You add the numbers of each together. Take the sum and add digits together until you get either a master number (11 or 22) or a single digit (0-9). Your life path refers to the major lessons you must learn in this lifetime.
Here's an example:
My birthdate: 12/10/1972 (12+10+1972=1994)(1+9+9+4=23)(2+3=5)
My Life Path Number is 5.
Now what? You can use numerology to derive at the meaning of your number. I prefer to go with the matching tarot card. The 5 corresponds with Hierophant (5) and Temperance (14).
Based on these two cards, my lessons for this lifetime would include:
